Juan Cruz Durán, born in Argentina, has been based in Barcelona since 2001. From a young age, he was drawn to the visual arts, engaging in drawing, painting, and sculpture. It wasn't until the age of 17 that he picked up a camera for the first time, discovering his true calling.
His academic journey began with graphic design, followed by a degree in "Director, Producer, and Integral TV Director." Concurrently, he initiated his studies in photography and lighting. With over 30 years of experience, he specializes in advertising photography, portraits, and fashion. Currently, his focus lies in still photography on film sets.
He seamlessly combines his role as a still photographer with the positions of director and cinematographer in video production. Operating in various European and American countries, Juan has executed campaigns for renowned brands and clients such as Spotify, Latin Grammys, Havaianas, Shure, Adidas, NBA, Nike, Bauhaus, DirecTV, FCB Barcelona Football Club, 3M, Bimbo, Coors Light, Seguros Zurich, Ayuntamiento de Barcelona, Cheerios, Nestlé, Cacaolat, and La Caixa, among others.
Throughout the years, he has collaborated with globally recognized agencies and production companies, including Media Monks Worldwide, Circus LA, VMLY&R, Tiempo BBDO, DDB, Gray, Conill, JTW, Tapsa, Evil Love, Small, SCPF, McCann Erickson, Havas, Comunica. + A, Draft FCB, Y&R, Alicia, Bromley Communication, BUM, Rapp Collins, Albiñana Films, Canada Films, Lee Films, and Continer One.
Juan's work has been featured in various magazines and print media, such as Playboy, Hola, La Vanguardia's magazine, H Magazine, and Dear Magazine, where he currently holds the position of Head of Photography. For over a decade, he served as a professor of advertising photography in the Master's in Communication and Advertising at the IED (European Institute of Design).
His art has been exhibited in Europe and America. His work, both commercial and personal, has been awarded on several occasions.
His project "El Bunker" garnered significant recognition in 2021 and 2022 from various professional photography platforms. Notably, he received the "Recognition of Excellence" from Communication Arts magazine in 2022. In that same year, Juan received multiple accolades for other nude and black-and-white photography projects.
